Co-captain and defender Kennedy Wesley was called up to the United States Women’s National Team for a three-game friendly series against Japan. The U.S. is preparing for the 2026 CONCACAF W Championship, which will determine qualification for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.

Rookie Mimi Van Zanten earned a spot on Jamaica’s roster as the Reggae Girlz take on Antigua and Barbuda on April 10 and Guyana on April 18. Jamaica is still pushing to qualify for the CONCACAF W Championship and currently sits tied for first in its group with a match in hand, putting the team in a strong position to advance.

The Wave’s Brazilian front three also received call-ups. Dudinha, Ludmila, and Gabi Portilho will join Brazil for three friendlies against Korea, Zambia, and Canada. With Brazil automatically qualified as hosts of the 2027 World Cup, these matches offer an opportunity for players to strengthen their case for future tournament selection.
Fortunately for San Diego, the players will have a week to recover before the Wave return to NWSL play against the Denver Summit. Staying healthy through the international break will be especially important for defenders Van Zanten and Wesley, as the Wave’s back line remains thin.
