San Diego Wave FC continued reshaping their roster ahead of the 2026 season with a defensive trade and the addition of a new goalkeeper.
The Wave sent defender Quincy McMahon to Racing Louisville FC in exchange for allocation funds and international roster flexibility. McMahon joined San Diego ahead of the 2025 season and gained early professional experience during her rookie year after arriving from UCLA.
The move opens both financial and roster space as the Wave continue to evaluate their defensive options during a busy offseason marked by turnover and depth building.
San Diego also announced the signing of goalkeeper Leah Freeman to a one-year contract through the 2026 season. Freeman arrives after spending her rookie professional campaign with Bay FC and brings a strong collegiate résumé following standout seasons at Oregon and Duke.
Freeman’s addition addresses an immediate positional need and adds competition to the goalkeeping group as the Wave prepare for training camp. Together, the two moves reflect San Diego’s focus on flexibility and balance as the club continues to take shape for the upcoming season.
