San Diego Wave FC and French forward Delphine Cascarino have mutually agreed to part ways ahead of the 2026 NWSL season, the club announced Sunday. The decision brings an end to a brief but impactful chapter for one of the most talented attackers to wear the Wave crest.

Cascarino joined San Diego midway through the 2024 season and quickly became a focal point in the attack. Across two seasons, she made 34 appearances in all competitions, starting 30 matches while tallying seven goals and nine assists. Her pace, creativity, and ability to stretch defenses gave the Wave a different dimension in the final third, particularly during stretches when the team struggled to generate consistent chances.

In 2025, Cascarino reached new heights individually, finishing the season as an NWSL MVP finalist after recording five goals and six assists. She was among the league’s most dangerous wingers during the first half of the campaign and returned from international duty with France carrying significant momentum, even as the Wave navigated an uneven second half of the season.

Cascarino’s departure marks another notable change for a Wave roster that has undergone significant turnover this offseason. She becomes the fourth regular starter to exit the club, following the departures of Kailen Sheridan, Savannah McCaskill, and Hanna Lundkvist. Together, those moves signal a clear shift as San Diego reshapes its identity under sporting director Camille Ashton and head coach Jonas Eidevall.

What Now?

While Cascarino’s next destination has not been officially confirmed, reports in France have linked her return to Europe, with London City Lionesses emerging as a potential landing spot. Wherever she lands, her technical quality and international experience will make an immediate impact.

For the Wave, the move creates both a void and an opportunity. With new attacking pieces already arriving and more minutes available on the wing, San Diego now turns the page toward building its next iteration. Cascarino’s time in San Diego may have been short, but her influence during a transitional period for the club will not be easily forgotten.
