Six additional San Diego Wave FC players have been called up for the international break. The window runs from April 7 to April 24, ending just before the Wave’s next NWSL match on April 25.

United States

Midfielder Kimmi Ascanio and forward Melanie Barcenas have both earned call-ups to the U.S. Youth National Team system, with Ascanio joining the U-20 squad and Barcenas representing the U-19 team. Their selections continue to highlight the Wave’s growing presence across the U.S. youth pipeline.

Barcenas, now in her fourth professional season, has already made an impact for San Diego this year with two goals. She will travel to Argentina for a U-19 training camp from April 9-18, where the U.S. will face Argentina twice. Ascanio will remain stateside with the U-20 team, taking part in a training camp in Kansas City that includes two matches against Brazil as preparation for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

France

Defender Perle Morroni and midfielder Laurina Fazer have been called up to the French Women’s National Team for a pair of 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers against the Netherlands.

Fazer’s inclusion marks another step in her continued run with the senior national team, while Morroni earns her third call-up since 2022. Both players will look to contribute as France continues its qualification campaign during the April international window.

Colombia

Goalkeeper Luisa Agudelo and defender Dani Arias will join the Colombia Women’s National Team as Las Cafeteras resume CONMEBOL Women’s Nations League play.

Colombia is set to face Venezuela, Chile, and Argentina later this month in matches that serve as qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. While neither Agudelo nor Arias has appeared for the Wave this NWSL season, the call-up provides an important opportunity for both players to gain valuable minutes on the international stage.

With representation across youth and senior national teams, the Wave will once again be well represented during the international window. These opportunities not only reflect the depth of the roster, but also give several players a chance to build form and confidence in a competitive environment.

As the break concludes, San Diego will turn its attention back to league play, with the hope that these players return sharp and ready to contribute heading into the next stretch of the NWSL season.
