San Diego FC announced on Wednesday that goalkeeper Jacob Jackson has joined USL Championship side Monterey Bay FC on loan for the remainder of the 2026 season. The move became official on May 26, though SDFC will maintain the option to recall him during the loan spell.

Jackson recently returned to San Diego after signing with the club as a free agent on May 7. During his second stint with SDFC, the 26-year-old was included on the bench for matches against Seattle Sounders FC on May 9 and Austin FC on May 13.

The club's decision comes at a time when CJ Dos Santos made his return from injury, showcasing a high level of play. Duran Ferree, the other goalkeeper option, is also healthy and ready to be put into action when called upon. This essentially places Jackson as a third string option while fellow goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega is injured.

Jackson will be able to keep playing in a high-level league to continue gaining experience. SDFC can recall him whenever they have a need for him.

A San Diego native, Jackson originally joined SDFC through Stage 1 of the 2024 MLS Re-Entry Draft. The club later exercised his contract option for the 2025 MLS season, making him part of San Diego FC’s inaugural roster.

During his time with Dallas, Jackson appeared in four matches, making three starts and recording one clean sheet before departing the club following the 2025 campaign.
