San Diego FC announced Tuesday that the club has loaned forward Anisse Saidi to USL Championship side Monterey Bay FC through the remainder of the 2026 season. The loan became effective on June 12, and SDFC retains the right to recall the 17-year-old attacker.

The move mirrors a similar decision made earlier this season when goalkeeper Jacob Jackson was loaned to Monterey Bay FC. For Saidi, the loan represents an important opportunity to gain consistent playing time and continue his development in a competitive professional environment.

Saidi joined San Diego FC on January 3, 2025, after the club acquired his Homegrown Priority rights from the Philadelphia Union. Considered one of the promising young talents within the organization, he made his MLS debut in March 2025 when he came on as a substitute against Austin FC. Since then, he has continued to work his way through the first-team setup, making four appearances across all competitions during the 2026 campaign, including two appearances in the Concacaf Champions Cup.

While first-team opportunities have been limited in San Diego, a loan to Monterey Bay could provide exactly what Saidi needs at this stage of his career. The USL Championship offers a high level of competition and regular match minutes, allowing young players to gain valuable experience that can be difficult to find on an MLS roster competing for results every week.

For SDFC, the move is a logical step in the development pathway. Rather than spending extended periods on the bench, Saidi will have the opportunity to play meaningful matches, face experienced professional defenders, and continue refining his game in real-game situations. Those minutes could prove invaluable as he works toward becoming a larger part of San Diego FC's long-term plans.

With Monterey Bay and San Diego maintaining a growing relationship through player loans, Saidi now joins Jackson in using the USL Championship as a platform for development. If all goes according to plan, the experience should help prepare the young forward for a bigger role with San Diego FC in the future.
