The Sounders are 3-0-0 at home this season. Going to Seattle and getting three points will be a very difficult task for San Diego FC. To help us get more familiar with the Sounders – SDFC Nation has teamed up with Jeremiah Oshan from Sounder at Heart to hear what he has to say. Jeremiah is an excellent independent reporter who writes content for an exemplary, long-standing Seattle outlet, Sounder at Heart.

Projected Starting Lineup (formation):

(4231) Andrew Thomas; Nouhou, Jackson Ragen, Alex Roldan, Kalani Kossa-Rienzi; Cristian Roldan, Snyder Brunell; Paul Rothrock, Albert Rusnák, Jesús Ferreira; Jordan Morris

Injuries

There are some long-term injuries to Pedro de la Vega and Yeimar Gomez Andrade, but other than those the Sounders are about as healthy as they’ve been all year.

Team Form

The Sounders are off to one of their best starts in franchise history, going 6-1-2 over their first nine league games. Including Concacaf play, they are 9-2-2 and are the only team to have beaten both the Vancouver Whitecaps (twice in CCC) and the San Jose Earthquakes (1-0 on the road). But they’re also coming off arguably their most frustrating result of the season, drawing Sporting KC 1-1 on the road after grabbing an early lead.

Key Players

Jesús Ferreira hasn’t been the goal-scorer many thought he’d be, but he has proven himself to be a very effective playmaker. He currently leads the Sounders with five assists in league play. Albert Rusnák has been a bit more up and down this year, but appears to be fully fit after missing one game and coming off the best last week. But the player who is arguably most important to the Sounders is Cristian Roldan, whose uncharacteristic mistake cost them two points last week. He’ll surely be looking for a bounce back performance.

One Thing to Know

The Sounders have only won the Supporters’ Shield once in their 16 previous MLS seasons. That may seem surprising given their track record of success, but it’s something they’ve set as a goal this year. Winning games at home is obviously the best path to winning that trophy and they’ve put a lot of emphasis on doing just that.
